The picturesque city of Omiš is located on the delta of the river Cetina, beneath the tow forts, Mirabella and Starigrad. It is located between two famous tourist resorts Split and Makarska. Omiš is a center for the 35km long Omiš Riviera. The history of the town is long and turbulent. The canyon of the river Cetina was a great stronghold of the Neretvan buccaneers that were renown for their maritime skills and ferocity in battle. Especially during the reign of the dukes Kacic in this area, the ferocious buccaneers from Omiš presented the greatest obstacle to the domination of Venice over the Adriatic.

Nemira is small coastal village, located on Omis Riviera, 3.5km away from Omis on the road to Dubrovnik.
